Being offered for sale is the antique LIGHTWEIGHT WOOD (best guess would be pine) TOOL BOX / BLANKET CHEST (child/doll/small size) with ORNATE CAST IRON HANDLES & LOCKABLE LATCH and SOLID BRASS BOTTOM CORNER BRACKETS & "FEET" (at underside), by unknown maker (no visible maker's marks...possibly/likely AAFA/homemade folk art) from circa the late 19th or early 20th century (best guess), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked!
Good/Very Good antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear but remains structurally rigid & strong. At the front-right corner of the lid, there is a 2" x 1/4" rectangle cutout that looks to have been put there on purpose (perhaps it was used as a "strongbox" or "piggy bank" or "ballot box"...just some speculation for you). Features superbly rich patina to all materials throughout and some really killer, uniquely faded old green paint throughout that really gives this box its character (in my opinion). Lid rests level when closed and the brass bracket-feet have no wobble. Cast iron handles and latch have clearly been cleaned in the near recent past. All-in-all, an extraordinary old chest with an abundance of eye-appeal!! See pics.
Measures 31" wide x 8-3/4" deep x 9-7/8" tall. Weighs 10 lbs. 12.0 oz..
