This stool references the visual image of a Japanese torii - a shinto shrine gate. The legs puncture and penetrate the seat, resulting in a furniture item with a strong graphic impression. Elaborate precision is found in the joint between the legs and the seat, which is inspired by the Japanese joinery method shikuchi. 

The stool serves as a perfect occasional seat, a side table or an end of bed bench with an archetypal Japanese aesthetic. Constructed from solid Itaya Maple with a clear lacquered coating to preserve the natural appearance of the wood.
