This superbly embellished dress was designed in the 1950s and most likely bespoke made for a special event. It incorporates many hallmarks of the era’s most-popular designs with its short-sleeves, squared neckline and circle skirt, yet the intricate detailing on this dress really sets it apart. The sky blue textured cotton is embroidered all over the front with delicate floral embroidery in the palest lilac. Forming tiny vines, leaves and petals in an all-over pattern, the embroidered florals are finished with aqua blue rhinestones and tiny pearls to the front. This dress has a coordinating belt that cinches the waist and emphasises the feminine ‘50s silhouette. It fastens with a hidden zip and three fabric-covered buttons which make a feature of the back. This dress is in excellent vintage condition; if we are being exceptionally picky, there is some chipped paint on the zip which is original. A good fit for a size UK 8-10 or US 4-6. Our model (5 ft 4 in / 163 cm) is a UK 6-8, this dress fit her well but was a little roomy around the bust and shoulders.
