Vintage 40s hand embroidered cotton day dress.

Medium weight off white 100% cotton with a split neckline, cummerbund style waist, and gathered skirt as pictured.

The neckline, front, and around the bottom of the skirt are embellished with hand embroidered pink and blue flowers with yellow accents and green stems and leaves as pictured.

The front bodice is gathered where it is sewn to the cummerbund waist and the skirt is gathered all around as pictured.

Pulls on over the head - closes with a 6-1/2" left side metal zipper.

Short sleeves are lightly gathered at the top. Unlined. No pockets.

I'm 5'4" and this comes to just below my knee which is a common length during the 40s due to wartime fabric conservation.

DESIGNER LABEL: No labels as this is handmade by a skilled seamstress.

CONDITION: Excellent with no odors, discoloration, fading, snags, pulls, holes, or runs. The embroidery work is complete with no missing threads or other issues.

The only thing is two pencil point sized brown spots on the back of the skirt which are 12" about the bottom hem and 5/8" from the right side seam. These spots fall into the gathers of the skirt and are barely noticeable.

Gently worn and very well cared for. Freshly cleaned and ready to wear.

SIZING: There are no size tags. Based on the measurements below, this dress will best fit a modern size Extra Small (due to the waist size).

Shoulders: 14-3/4" Across

Outer Sleeves: 8-1/2"

Inner Sleeves: 2-1/2"

Bust: 36" - Underarm to Underarm - Due to gathering at the waist.

Waist: 24"

Hips: Up to 52" - Due to gathering at the waist.

Bodice Length: 16" - Top of Shoulder to Waist Seam (includes 2" wide inset cummerbund)

Skirt Length: 24" - Waistline to Bottom Hem

Bottom Sweep: 80" Around
