From the early days of the "little black dress"...
This sweetly dark dress, circa 1930's, is made of a super lightweight, semi-sheer silk fabric. It has shirred-gathered shoulder details, deep v-neckline and short sleeves finished with a floral-embroidered net fabric. The most stunning detail, however, is the Basque-style waist, dotted with a row of a dozen small, self-covered buttons (non-functional). Both bodice and below-the-knee skirt are gathered delicately into the waist piece. The left side contains a metal zipper closure. Skirt hem features a floral, scallop-edged lace. The overall condition is good, still very wearable with a few issues; a few tiny pin holes throughout (including one area at back skirt -see pics), a few repaired holes throughout, repaired and reinforced tears at either side bust, light discoloration/lighteneing at left breast area, small green paint specks near and at hem, plus one tooth is missing from metal zipper (does not affect ease or ability of zipper). No labels or makers marks.
