I have had several variations of this corduroy coat from the Rive Gauche version of the famous Russian collection from the Fall/Winter of 1976-1977 and this is one of my favorites by far. These are rare and hard to find and this one is perfect. I love the shorter length of this version and the fact that the black is infinitely versatile. These took a practical fall weight coat and added that classic Yves Saint Laurent style and chicness. The fabric is a soft ribbed corduroy and the edges are black flat braiding that are placed to emphasize the lines of the coat and give it that Russian Cossack feel. Black polished dome buttons close the coat and adorn each sleeve. The constructed is fabulous and I love the cut with its flared hem and full cut sleeves. A wonderful and rare piece of fashion history that feels like is could have stepped straight out of a museum exhibit. Excellent condition.
