STORY
Cut and sewn by the team at Mila factory in southern India using organic cotton sourced from farmers’ cooperatives.
1. SOWING THE SEEDS. The farmers sow the organic cotton seeds and then manage the soil, water, pests and weeds without the use of pesticides.
2. HARVESTING. The cotton is harvested by hand, 5-6 months after being sown.
3. GINNING. Once harvested, a machine removes the seeds from the cotton fibre.
4. SPINNING. The cotton fibre is drawn out and spun to make yarn.
5. KNITTING. The organic cotton yarn is knitted on a machine with elastane to make jersey fabric.
6. DYEING AND FINISHING. The fabric is dyed using Oeko-Tex & GOTS certified dyes within a zero waste unit.
7. DESIGNING AND SAMPLING. The underwear was designed and sampled by Phoebe & Isobel when they lived together in a house in East London.
8. CUTTING AND SEWING. The organic cotton jersey is cut, stitched, printed & pressed by the team at a small Fairtrade factory in the south of India.
9. TRANSPORT. The underwear has been flown from India to the UK. In future it will be sailed by sea.
10. IN YOUR HANDS. Please look after your underwear & the environment by washing on a low heat & line drying.
