Really rare and unusual flapper dress that is a witty trompe l'oiel created with the most decadent of materials. These are amongst the rarest of flappers you will find as the stones used often ripped the fabric from the weight of being attached and this one is completely stable and all stones present. Made to appear as if a tasseled belt circles the waist, that entire design is completely hand beaded onto the dress. A ring of paste rhinestones are applied directly to the fabric and this turns into the centre tassel. From this remarkable "cord" dangles an amazing tassel that is only connected at the top so it swings and moves freely as you move. Under that rhinestone belt there is a second one constructed from green cabochon and tiny green glass seed beads The beading is tight and the design amazing! The neckline also is encircled in rhinestone and over one shoulder two full tassels of beads swing. A huge pink stone sits at the neckline. The dress is self is very generous as was the style of the period† and the design really remarkable - it is actually two dresses - one inner longer one that is a simple sheath and the outer to which the bead work is done. I believe this was done to add to the fullness of the barrel shape. This had to be high couture and it is devastating that it is not labeled! You can easily wear this dress either way too!
