Purple and black handwoven Nuapatna cotton ikat saree from the weavers of Sambalpur, Odisha. The pattern for this saree evolves through a process of dyeing the warp and weft threads prior to inter-weaving. This technique of ikat weaving on a traditional handloom is a beautiful art of poetry on the loom. This saree is woven with abstract geometric motifs in ikat checkered white and purple patterns on the body. Green colour simple warp stripes are woven on the borders of the saree. The traditional floral design on the pallu add to the beauty of this handloom saree.
